CDP 390 questions...

I have a late '80s Sony CDP390 that refuses to eject a disc.

I tried to take the cover off for a peek inside, but the cover seems to interlock with the fron BPC faceplate, and it doesn't looks like I can lever it off without breaking something....

Can anyone help wiht these 2 questions....

1) Is there a way to manually eject a disk, or get the door open?

2) What is the secret to getting the cover off.... it can't be that difficult can it?

If I get past those two issues, my next question would be whether there are any simple tweaks to improve the sound/reliability of this unit?

door opens...

Found a screw recessed into the bottow of the unit that operates the tray mechanism... and managed to get it open.

Still not able to solve the puzzle of how to get the top cover to disengage from the front faceplate without damage...

There might be L-shaped "fingers" that interlock with the front panel (I recall seeing this on some Sonys)... try to pull to the left or right a bit and see if it'll disengage.

It WILL come off!
