Spent the 4th to the 7th up north--stayed in Charlevoix MI and took a few side trips. This is how clear the water was at the Mission Point Lighthouse on the Old Mission Peninsula. The 45th parallel is somewhere a few hundred feet from shore.



So how did I get the glare off of the water?

By shooting through my polarized Ray Bans.

And a historic cabin moved to the lighthouse park since the last time I visited (which was maybe 1994 or 1995):

Fireworks on the 4th. Both Petoskey and Harbor Springs were shooting off fireworks. Petoskey is closer, but if you situate yourself in the right spot, you can see the fireworks in Harbor Springs as well, across the water. (Both towns shoot them off near the water.)
