Obviously inspired by (if not a direct copy of) the Tannoy Churchill as shown below. For those that don't know, the Churchill was a Canadian built system intended solely for the North American market using Tannoy's 15" dual concentric driver. It was introduced in the late 1990's by Tannoy's Kitchner Ontario based North American distributor and appears to have been recently discontinued. It no longer shows up on Tannoy North America's website:

Last time I saw one was at the 2003 CES when they had just upgraded the Churchill to the Churchill Wideband by making it a three way system with an integral UHF driver. At the time, retail price was $25,000/pr.

Pretty much just for styling, although I think they may have trotted out a half hearted claim that there was some technical benefit. More than anything, it was in reference to the "V for Victory" salute that Churchill made famous during WWII. The Tannoy Churchill also had a gold silloutte drawing of his face embedded on the cone.
