You are most fortunate to get your 11.0 in such condition!...like wicked lucky!
I agree with most all what you have said.
My sense with these units is that the 16.5 has a coloration characteristic, meaning the heavy-handedness it inherently possesses can present itself too visibly in some forms of music and musical style............otoh, since the 11.0 doesn't have the same brutal power design, it morphs itself to the musical demands more invisibly. Gets out(and stays out) of the way of the music itself, which to me is a more ideal result. It allows me to more completely enjoy the music, instead of noticing something lurking, which to say the least, is distracting. Hence, besides fatigue over the long haul, there is always the chance that something else will bug a person as they listen. I am also exploring more carefully generally lower powered pieces. Based on my experiences, more power is not necessarily better in the end. A correct sense of musical timing, cadence, and rhythmn is something I pick up on as sounding righteous(or not). That specific sense of musical recognition is something some folks might have more-or-less of, than others. My sister-in-law, who presently is using the 11.0, absolutely loves the musicality now around her, which affirmed my sense of 11.0... In her past, she played with some of the very best musicians in the World, with the NY Philharmonic, and another Symphony, for over 30 years. When I see the 'lit' look in her eyes when I bring up the topic of the stereo, this is eeenough for me.
I just try to explore each individual piece of gear the best I can, like everyone else. I've heard many folks here speak with love and respect about many different lower powered stereos they have, and I appreciate that they took the time to speak out and share their thoughts and experiences...
Thanks for listening with an Open Mind.
