connecting dvd player to two receivers?

can i hook up my dvd player with the digital connection to my surround receiver for movies and at the same time hook up the analog outputs to my two channel receiver for stereo music. obviously i would not have both receivers on at the same time. my two channel receiver is superior to my surround sound receiver in stereo mode for music listening

i think your right. i need to go into the set up menu and set the dvd player for two channel playback instead of multichannel playback. then if i want to watch movies or listen to dts encoded music i have to switch back. not the most efficient method
