First thing that jumps into my head is "white-box" knockoffs. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

I've never heard of "Advance Speaker Korp."

I found the same post after I spelt it wrong. They are definitely not white van speakers. There made in the us. They sound Fantastic actually very good bass

Looks like a Peerless tweeter to me.

:)

It is and pretty close to the ADS plate of the 206-0116 & 0117. Speakers sometimes came in with those installed from an earlier repair. My coworker once had a long and heated discussion with a customer that told him we used that tweeter and were lying when we said we made our own. Ah, good times.

Picked up a pair of Advance Speaker Korp V-II (W) Walnut at the flea market for $10 and boy do they sound great! I use them with a 6-1/2 watt Musical Paradise MP-301 MK3 tube amp and they are mind blowing,
musically speaking. SPL is 90 db so they play well with flea watt amps! I'm enjoying the heck out of these.

A-II 78-83 378/pr
V-II oiled walnut 79-84 296/pr
and those cover the full listings by year, 78-84 is all that is shown. They have other models including the V-II in vinyl clad.

Back then anyone could make speakers. Just use good quality drivers and a nice crossover for those drivers and stuff em in a box and bam you got something.

I took the woofer out and it has a hand written date, 1-12-1978, so you are correct sir!
As far as building speakers using decent quality drivers goes, I agree with your comment, but the amp, sources, cables, room treatments, and placement creates a synergy and I really stumbled upon a quality of sound that i've never really heard before and i've been at this hobby for 40+ years and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on both high end and vintage gear, and I tell ya it's been one helluva ride. The flesh and bone tonality of excellent quality recordings are even more real sounding, and even the bad recordings are better then before, which is extremely hard to achieve without a certain synergy. Human speakers sells a drop in concave version of the Peerless convex tweeter, which I may try down the road, but I don't see how it can possibly be better.

Thanks for the info Blue Shadow!

Excellent. Good quality drivers and a proper crossover and they stand the test of time and please all these decades later. You are right that one needs to put together some proper gear and put the speakers in the right place. Enjoy.
