crackle that moves my speaker cone like crazy on cold start Yamaha CR1020

The popping and crackling is heard before the relay " click"..
On first read, the following was a bit vague to me at least

Immediately upon power up... I hear the relays kick in about 5 seconds after.

but now ok...

So test for welded contact, in any case replace the relay and caps, they are long overdue however first identify source of fault, transistor,
dry solder joint...

Apologies, was called away.

With amp powered off/unplugged, set the spkr selector to Speaker A.
Measure the resistance from TP1 on the left power amp to the left RED
speaker A post. Repeat for TP1 on right power amp and right RED
speaker A post. In both cases open/OL should be returned, anything
else indicates the contacts are sticking.

From the symptoms "power up, immediate noise, relay click after 5
seconds" points strongly to the relay, it should be replaced.

OK will do

UPDATE!!! OK, it DOES happen right when the protection circuit kicks in....... It is quiet, then I hear the clicks, and "snap crackle pop!"

I quickly turn speaker control to off...... wait about a minute.... turn back on and it's quiet...

Would have been nice to know about 20 posts ago.

Flip the coupler switch on the rear panel to the separate position. Does it still pop ?
