HiFi in WYO
The universe is a big place, perhaps the biggest.
Yeah, it's car audio but stick with me ...
While I'm still restoring the Oldsboatmobile, I've been keeping an eye out for a good replacement shaft-style car stereo (to replace the original AM sound machine). On that one auction site, this thing below won't go away in the listings. About a year or year and a half ago, these were running in the $24.95-$50 price range. A more recent look (like today) reveals that demand must be exceeding supply because the current average price is around $290!!!
When they were so cheap, I was tempted because of the inputs but after reading many reviews I came to the conclusion I'd rather listen to a 30-year-old tape deck. In short, not good. Not good sounding and cheaply built. About what you'd expect for a $30 stereo (Remember Road Gear?)
Not sure what happened but the prices asked have skyrocketed. I'll keep looking for a Supertuner.
