Critters

And, we're calling this one, Number Nine,...
Caught and released within this hour, 2018-aug-16

It was stretched across the pathway from our patio (rear of house) out to the front. It was right at the corner of the house, at the opposite corner than Number Eight.
I escorted it into a small rubbermaid trashcan (blue); then into the traveling container (faded green snap lid storage tote), close-up, and in the car at the wildlife refuge at the end of the street.
I didn't get a release shot, as it hightailed it into shin deep grass, I had sandals on, and wasn't going to chase it down for pictures.

Good man! I highly approve!

Not a great photo, but a fantastic critter

I was out on a boat with just my Nikon V1. This is just about a 1:1 crop. And it was a cloudy day. But it's the first time I've gotten a shot of one.

Deer next door. He stood there for several pictures, then started walking toward me. I left. Notice our neighbor isn't overly concerned about his lawn.

That was an artifact found day before yesterday, when I had a chainsaw out, and was cutting up an old in-ground liner pool deck. We're eliminating the pool/deck. It was at least 40y.o., and the deck was terribly rotten. They had "veneered" new deck boards over old rotten boards a long time ago, and the veneered boards were rotting too.
We live on a rattlesnake hotspot, so, diving into this deck removal, with the deck fronting essentially, ohh, a national forest, the potential was high for hidden rattler; and I've also caught two large ones on the property very recently.
So, it was quite a relief, actually, to find that prehistoric monster critter thing (etiher a rabbit or a squirrel skull), and not a rattler.

the carnage of the Rainbow Pool Deck Massacre,..

Black Widow on the driveway. I was positioning it into the light and it's rear leg came off. Poor little latrotoxin injecting creature. RIP.
