Desireable Consoles? Possible forum category?...

VINTAGEO

Newbie in New B.
I'm not usually one to even give a console stereo cabinet a second look, that is untill I saw this one!
This thing is a work of art from the late fifties I gather from the very limited amount of info on it.
What I do like about it, it is relatively small, 44x16x28, it looks fantastic with its curved lines, sounds great despite needing some service, all works! Not to mention the condition of it, someone obviously really loved this peice!
The receiver is made by Blaupunkt, and the turntable is a Dual 1011
Oh and I really like the refrigerator style turntable light that turns on and off when the front panel is opened and closed!! :)
The receiver even has a green signal scope that widens the stronger the signals from stations are.20180522_215431 (2).jpg
I thought it might be a great place for people to show off and discuss their consoles, original and modded alike.
What better place than an audio site? :)

I agree, it is beautiful. The obvious issue is the acreage needed for one but if you've got it, do it.

That's why I posted the dimensions of it, quite small for a console. My regular system, Sansui Eight, Dual 1019, AR3a's and Rotel CD player on a small coffee table takes up more room.20180515_074039.jpg

Nice. I had a very similar Blaupunkt unit when I lived in Canada. I sold it when I left, eighteen years ago.

That OP console is downright fantastic! Not only does it seem to have some pretty nice internals, but that cabinet is awesome.

Another I’d add keeping in theme with this thread is the Kuba Komet. Arguably one of the coolest looking consoles made. Don’t know how it sounds, but who really cares?!? Just look at it!

I’m kinda partial to the lighter color wood and that half-sunburst in the first pic, but either would absolutely be welcome in my home.

Great idea for a category. I saw a Telefunken console that was very similar last summer in a antique store. I would have bought it but they said they tested it and couldn't get sound out of it and they were asking $500. If it was working I might have considered it, the thing was flat gorgeous.

Me and the wife came across a beautiful mid century modern console a couple years ago at a local thrift. Its a Barzilay. In fantastic condition. Got it for $20! Best part was the McIntosh 1700 receiver and Dual 1019 turntable that was still in it!
