Digital to Analog Converter DAC question.

I have an old digital to analog converter AMC DAC8 that is stop working. I found that the power supply voltage regulator chip JRC 7815A is dead (output 2 volts instead 15). I do not have 7815A, but I have 7812 (12 volt power regulator) and I decided to try it. So I put 7812 in palace and it’s working. I did not notice any difference in sound (compare to when 7815A chip was in place) when I connect it to NAD 514 cd player. The question is – what difference does it make to use 12 volts instead 15? Should I look for 7815A chip or since 7812 works well just leave it?
