You're barking up the right tree....absorption should be implemented on the ceiling first anyway since you now have two parallel boundary layers that are reflective as all hell and within close proximity of one another, the listening spot and the speakers. Diffusion is like icing on the cake whereas absorption is the cake.

The 625x625x50mm ones were like A$50 each.

I'd need x4 of them to cover the ceiling I think.
