Who invented, who innovated, who implemented, who delivered.
A discussion of the days from Hertz to Home.
This intended a continuation of a discussion from another thread.

I think Marconi's contribution was delivering and improving a workable practical wireless communication system of particular interest to ship to shore and ship to ship service. One of the "holy grail" seaborn navigation aids that went unappreciated until the night of April 14, 1912 with the sinking of HMS Titanic, fully laden in the North Atlantic on it's maiden voyage. That night, Wireless went from being a novelty to a lifesaving necessity.

    Behind you.
Maxwell's equations in 1865 established the theoretical foundations of radio and electronics. Without them, at best blind experimental blundering. Or nothing.

A point of contention is whether deForest's 1907 triode was an intentional proof-of-principle or a fortuitous accidental discovery. The heavy lifting of making it a practical device came to AT&T's acquisition of the rights for development and use as a linear long distance telephone repeater amplification device under Hendryk van der Bijl, introduced ca 1914.
