Early hk cassette decks

Does anyone here know whether there are real (electronic or performance0 differences between the very early harman-kardon hk1000 top-load cassette deck and the later hk2000 top-load deck? The cosmetics were modernized on the latter, but the layout and overall Gestalt of the hk2000 and hk1000 are awfully similar.

Just curious... :)

The HK 1000 was the first cassette deck with integrated Dolby B noise reduction to be mass-marketed in the USA, coming in mid-1973. (It was not the first deck with Dolby, just the first marketed). It was a very fine deck for its day and one of the early signs that the cassette could be a legitimate hi-fi device.

The 2000 is somewhat similar but had significant differences in internal circuitry and some mechanical differences.
