Electro-Voice mystery speaker question.

Hello to the fine folks of the forum. Huge fan, have been for a while. (Especially the Speaker area) I come to you with my first mystery. Picked these Electro-voice soeajers up at a local thrift shop for a few bucks. I can't seem to find a whole bunch online regarding this model. I have been told they might be Regal 3's? Everything looks great minus a few blemishes. What are they? What should I do? Fix em up? Sell them? Are they worth selling? Any input or advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to AK. I don't know the cabinets but do know the drivers. Keep them and look for larger cabinets.

Hey jolly, great first post! Welcome to AK. Those EV's look pretty cool to me and appear fully original as evidenced by cabinet construction and details, as well as the cane grille which showed up on many EV speaker products. I say fix 'em up, try them out and hopefully keep them. Quite possible that a re-cap would help greatly. I love that flip down panel for the rotary controls, and it's a little bit rare to come across "blonde" cabinets in good shape. Those look great.

Maybe you've seen all this already, but just in case:

I wish I had the room. I live in a very small space. Thanks so much for the info! Any idea what they are worth?

What is the basis for this suggestion?
I put those drivers and crossovers from one of the Electro-Voice cabinets of that size into the much larger Electro-Voice Empire cabinets. The improvement was as expected, marvelous. The 12W needs more cubic feet.

AK Bartertown is a good place to sell from. Value unknown. There is a good market for the parts. That would be a shame.

A 12 W needs a larger cabinet and if EV will recone them for you in addition you will pickup extended bass response .The crossover will need to be replaced or rebuilt in addition. You could ask Bob Crities of Klipsch fame, he may know enough to build you a custom crossover to improved the over all sound. Klipsch used the same mid driver and tweeter in their speakers back when. A few early Klipsch used EV woofers, but I'm not sure if Hersey ever used a 12W.

I agree with it’s a score, great snag my friend. I think they would be great to use daily honestly. Unless you have something better, however EVs sound so good to me.
