We are pleased to offer this very rare pair of EMI DSL-1 tube amplifier powered floor speakers. They measure 50" tall x 14" wide x 17"deep. They have 13" x 8" EMI 92390 G drivers, two exceedingly rare G.E.C 1853 Hi-Flux Presence units, EMI crossovers, and EMI STD 373/DLS tube amplifiers. I am not certain how the amplifiers work, so I did not actually test them. I did plug them in, and the tubes light up...but that is as much as I can tell you. The speakers themselves sound excellent...very clear, warm, and full sounding. The cabinets have some moderate wear (blemishes and scratches) as to be expected, but no damages or cracks. The metal grills are in very nice condition, and the cabinets are on casters so they are quite easy to move around. Unfortunately they weigh a ton, so i am offering pick-up only...though your welcome to arrange your own packing/shipping through UPS or a carrier of your choice.

Thanks... Those were the ONLY things I found as well... even posted the Japanese site minutes before you did above.

Other than that, there was a discussion a few years back here about George Martin possibly using them in Abbey Road Studios: http://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/white-elephant-abbey-road.619799/

I sent a pm (shows up as a post on his page?) to ggizzy (who started the thread) to see if he found anything further. I'm also curious to see the pictures he originally posted of the Beatles ... supposedly next to the speakers... those photos are no longer available so I have no idea what they look like.

My father always referred to them as "EMI Studio Reference Monitors" ... so I wouldn't be shocked if George Martin had a pair just like them.

I found one other page discussing them here: http://www.ebay.com.au/gds/EMI-13-x...Clairtone-HMV-DECCA-/10000000019705140/g.html
