I have the model 3 from the same series. Haven't used them in a while, though I recall they sounded decent. There are a few other owners of this series on AK. Keep in mind that there's a lot of foam that's going to need replacing if it hasn't already been done.

EPI was going for a higher end look when these were made - they put real wood veneer on all four sides, used decent binding posts and were internally wired with monster (or similar) cable. Presumably the trapezoidal shape was meant to reduce internal reflections. They even included spikes, although the plastic bases were somewhat questionable. Note that this series has nothing in common with the more well known inverted tweeter models.

Does the owner have the EQ box? It's fairly important.

I have a pair with the external EQ. The EQ does have an impact and depending on your room setup can help with the bass management, but I currently have both controls turned all the way down. I'm pretty impressed with the sound, but my experience with speakers is not the same as others. I currently have the Polk SDA SRS, Klipsch Forte II and Bose 601 II to compare them to and these rank pretty high for me. I also have the Model 3 and have done a side-by-side comparison with the Model 1. There are some differences for sure and have to say the 1s come out on top, but the 3s are still pretty impressive considering. BTW, the tweeters in your photos are not original.
