Listened to the first two LPs so far.

Sounds great and takes me out of my jazz comfort zone a bit.

Everything sounded great until "A Personal Statement". :wtf:

Never expected to hear Florence Foster Jenkins on a Dolphy LP. . .

:lurk: Don't know much about Dolphy. I have Out To Lunch, and like it most days.

    Thanks for pointing this out!
Those are the two Dolphy records I don't have, Iron Man and Conversations.
Actually, much of Conversations shows up on the Dolphy Memorial Album but the pressing is horrible.
Hopefully this will come out on vinyl soon.

And ...A Personal Statement, perhaps this will she'd some light:

I finally got to spin my copy that @captouch got for me (Thanks again!). I've only had time to spin disc 1 and so far, I'm liking it!

My favorite album of his musically is Conversations.

My favorite album of his artwork wise is Out to Lunch.

My favorite song that involves him (by name only) is The Eric Dolphy Memorial Barbeque (Weasels Ripped My Flesh).

I had yours in hand, getting it ready for shipment, and thought, "Hmm, maybe I should try to get one for myself too." Luckily, there was one store selling it online, so I was able to grab a copy before they sold out.

Conversations (disc 1) actually sounds really good. @noisefreq , this is a nice pressing with good sound quality. It's actually cool that they put extra tracks on each disc. "A Personal Statement" on disc 2 is actually a bonus track, so even though I don't appreciate it, being the last song on the second side, I can cue up and bypass it easily. :)

I'm actually listening to Out to Lunch right now. I'm not familiar with it at all even though I've had it on CD for years. But it sounds good to me.

Personally, I think Out To Lunch hits on cylinders.
Besides it being perfectly recorded (Van Gelder Studios), it's his most unique album.
Of the too few gems he left for us, this diamond really shines.
    Solid all the way through.
