Thanks for chiming beemers, and yes I will agree from what I know about Frank he normally "eventually" comes through on his transactions... but it seems that a repeating pattern is emerging. Either he's the biggest procrastinator of all time, or he is biting off far more than he can chew and trying to cover his tracks after the fact. It seems the repair work is not necessarily the issue, but the amount of time it is taking him to ship things out... and the excuses made as to why its taking so long. The "transposing" the zip code excuse was posted by more than one member.
If he was busy and simply did not have the time to look at my receiver, fair enough, then don't offer to look at it in the first place... then I would not be in this position, nor would the other members, nor would he. But compounding this with lies and false promises only makes things worse for everyone. It makes him look bad, and the AK community...
A little communication goes a LONG way. Many of the members have been in the same situation as I have with virtually no word for weeks/months at a time. With the modern age of cell phones and email to me its inexcusable to have to continually try and track someone down for updates, he had my number and my email and could have contacted me at ANY time. It only takes 2 seconds. He knows I'm on chat daily and did give me bits and pieces here and there, but normally just came in there to brag about the new gear he got and I would have to pry out information from him.
As an example my tech friend in Arizona emails me progress reports on any gear that I send him without me even having to ask. And if he is going out of town I get a courtesy email letting me know.
I feel its unacceptable to have to "wait" 3 months to get a status update... and to be told something was sent out when it clearly wasn't.. It was the continual false promises and inability to reach him that forced my hand posting this feedback. I wrestled with this daily... I never even wanted to post this in this first place as I considered Frank a "friend", but I was running out of options and didn't know what else to do.
Everyone, including myself, should be accountable for their actions, or lack thereof and in an open forum such as AK, unless these actions are made known, informed decisions cannot be made by other members.
I hope this thread serves as a means to facilitate the importance of members leaving feedback about their dealings with other members so that situations like this occur less frequently. A little due diligence goes a long way. It's simple to search a member on the Feedback forums to see the results of their transactions and their previous track record. Had I seen the feedback earlier in regards to this member, I most certainly would not have sent him my receiver and all of this could have been avoided.
This is not to imply in ANY way that others should not confide in this member to make repairs or to make transactions with. I was merely presenting the facts of my own personal dealings with him, which is the purpose of this forum. As with anything you do in life there are "risks" involved and it up to each individual to make their own informed decisions. The feedback forum should be used to aid members in making these decisions. It should NOT be used to bash, humiliate, or defame AK members. Nor is it meant for those who have not had transactions with the particular member in question to put in their 2 cents... as Fisherdude has CLEARLY stated.
Sorry for the encyclopedic explanation, but I wanted to be clear about a few things that have been taken out of context by other members.
