    Hi all,

I am having the same problem of firmware update on Receiver Denon E-300.
I already tried to update via internet and USB, but I could not. In the service manual shows how to do via RS232, as already said in this forum, but I also did not get the software for this (D&M firmware writer). Does anyone have this software to share?

    Hi Members,

I am having Denon AVR 3312 initially can not power on and without any LED indicator, End up C3082 on HDMI board shorted with 18 ohms, replace this solve the issue and power-on as normal.

However, USB and Net randomly not working, especially when warmed up and power-recycle, suspect heat related trigger partial failure component to mis-behave.

Try to upgrade firmware, suspected half way upgrade this DM860 either hang or rebooted by itself [even now without valid firmware also rebooting by itself randomly], now with corrupted Flash for DM860 and would like to manually recover via Serial interface.

I managed to get following menu, but need Bootloader level 2 for re-flash via Xmodem.

Appreciated if you could help provide me a copy of those required files for this purpose, manual document will be great too.

My unit check firmware update via firmware.denon.jp
Firmware I believe available from this server via TFTP, but I did not know the path to the file and filename itself, anyone having this firmware for recovery purpose?

TFTP URL or file path will do as well such as:-
    tftp firmware.denon.jp/.../filename??

Serial console to DM860 [ Serve USB and Network] give me this:-

FLB running @ 24000000Hz; Flash Drivers: [NAND]
    Manufacturer : Hynix
    Device : NAND 128MB 3,3V 8-bit
    Reserved : 0x00
    Page Size : 2048 Bytes 1
    Block Size : 128 Kilobytes
    Spare Bytes : 64 Bytes
    Bad Block found: Block 311
    Bad Block found: Block 513

    Starting Bootloader Level 1

    Bootloader Level 1 Menu (Mar 11 2009, 16:07:41):
    ================================================

    1) Download Bootloader Level 2
    2) Show Meta Info
    3) Reset
    4) Start Bootloader Level 2
    5) Start Application
    6) Erase Flash

==>Before Boot Level 2 totally gone, I saw this also, but now never able to reach this level2
    Bootloader Level 2 Menu (Dec 22 2011, 15:41:04)
    ================================================
    1) Download Image and Config (CnE)
    2) Download Image Only
    3) Download resource pages
    4) Start Image
    5) Print Image Info
    6) Mark Image as invalid
    7) Config (CnE) to factory default
    8) Program MAC address 0
    9) Program GUID
    a) Set Start Mode
    b) Exit to Shell
    c) Download Image, Config and Resources (TFTP)
    d) Download Image Only (TFTP)
    e) Download Bootloader (TFTP)
    f) Download Resources (TFTP)
    g) Download Image and Resources (TFTP)

    Last know good firmware version:
    AVR3312 E2
    Firm. Package Ver.:0011
    Main : 00.97
    Main FBL: 00.18
    Sub : 51100029
    Sub FBL : 00.02
    DSP: 65.24
    Audio PLD : 08.04
    GUI: 50110092
    Ehternet FBL: 090311-bd
    Ethernet SBL: B201112221012-0A
    Ethernet IMG: I201301240129

Maybe any member having DFW and frimware for AVR-3312 can share a copy with me to give it a try?

    UPDATE:-
First, thanks to dimanag for help and providing necessary utilities for my recovery to be successfull.

WARNING!!!, those steps specific to 3312, others may or may not work, In all cases try at your own risk!!

After a lot try and error here is summary of steps how to recover my flash corruption on DM860 chip [I believe replacing flash memory IC391 for DM860 those steps will work also, ofcoz boot block must be there first]:-

    Step1
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
On Window, open DFW and load firmware, during loading firmware actually DFW will do validation on firmware by extracting each component firmware and put it in users/Appdata/Temp/Denon.../firmdata00.bin to firmdata06.bin, following is list of file after I append corresponding component name:-
    firmdata00-MAIN.bin
    firmdata01-SUB.bin
    firmdata02-PLD.bin
    firmdata03-DSP.bin
    firmdata04-GUI.bin
    firmdata05-DM860SBL.bin
    firmdata06-DM860IMG.bin

    Step 2
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Solder serial console cable direct to HDMI board [CN390], set speed to 115200 8N1, once power on you should see DM860 boot messages of menu if corrupted,
My case, I see this menu
    Starting Bootloader Level 1

    Bootloader Level 1 Menu (Mar 11 2009, 16:07:41):
    ================================================

    1) Download Bootloader Level 2
    2) Show Meta Info
    3) Reset
    4) Start Bootloader Level 2
    5) Start Application
    6) Erase Flash

Desperate, just to make sure my flash chip really clean, I proceed with option 6) to totally erase it.

After erase, use option 1) to load in using Xmodem via this CN390 serial port and supply file firmdata05-DM860SBL.bin from step 1
Once done, do a reset and it should boot into Bootloader Level 2 menu as follow:-

    Bootloader Level 2 Menu (Mar 1 2011, 20:39:50)
    ================================================
    1) Download Image and Config (CnE)
    2) Download Image Only
    3) Download resource pages
    4) Start Image
    5) Print Image Info
    6) Mark Image as invalid
    7) Config (CnE) to factory default
    8) Program MAC address 0
    9) Program GUID
    a) Set Start Mode
    b) Exit to Shell
    c) Download Image, Config and Resources (TFTP)
    d) Download Image Only (TFTP)
    e) Download Bootloader (TFTP)
    f) Download Resources (TFTP)
    g) Download Image and Resources (TFTP)

    Step 3
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
To have valid data to boot Level 2, choose option 1), don't use option 2) as it did not recover CNE info needed to boot level 2
Option 1) also transfer using Xmodem, this round supply file firmdata06-DM860IMG.bin from step 1.
Once this done, the unit consider fully restore back to factory default. Can proceed to do web console online firmware update.

    Step 4
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Update firmware via internet, once you select to update, here is how and where firmware downloaded from, can be manually downloaded as well after supply login

Hi Dear Dimtrios. My denon is a AVR2313CI E3. Also , if you have need for write firmware on Marantz SR6007. Is it possible to use the same DFW program that denon ones??? if not, do you have it too?

    Thank you
