Just got this Fisher 450t locally and I really like the sound. I believe later I will try to recap since it has the older germanium transistors but for now I only have a problem with the auto scan. It does not catch any stations. Has anyone here played around with this unit and know anything about the auto scan..below are some pictures.

I found this stereo beacon light burned out .can this be in anyway the problem. And I can't find this part anywhere.

The lamps are replaceable. IT's the same lamp 12V that FISHER used in all of their AutoScan tuners. The only thing a burned out STEREO Beacon Lamp with do is give you a visual lack of Stereo indication. Lamps are at www.wjoe.com in the lighting section. They are axial wired lamps in .150a (Part# 202213) and .250a (Part#204231). I use the .150a in my 500TX as I found the .250a burned out too fast and was too bright for the area.

The FM tuning is EARLY ELECTRONIC! Tuning is by Varactors. If you can get all 3 or 4 of the varactors to tune to the station you want them at, don't worry about the Auto-Scan, unless 1.) You've got a hell of a lot more money to pour down the 450-T's throat, 2.) know a Tech that was trained in Varactors (and he'd better be in the late 70's to Early 80's now. 3.) a couple of spare chasssis for spare parts if you should need them as these units aren't made since 1969 and no spare parts exist other than on parts donor's.

Dang wjoe has everything..thanks..well I guess a recap is not worth it on these units. really like them but don't want to spend money for someone to recap it some features like auto scan might not even work. I have the same person selling me a 700t ..might just skip

700-T was TOTL Receiver for 1967-68. VERY GOOD Receiver. I built 1 from 2 carcasses and I've gotta say it kicks the asses of the 550-T and the 500-T I also have. It doesn't have varactor tuning, or AutoScan. But it is a Damned fine FM ONLY RECEIVER.
