Very, very nice example. Makes me want to dust off my FM100B (though not nearly as nice as this one).

In the photo, the FM-1000 has a blanking-plate behind the tuning capacitor.
The under-chassis photo shows that there is an empty space underneath.
Anyone know what belongs there?
Also, why spend big bucks on this wonderful piece of technology, when there is so very little to hear on F.M., that is not from C.D. or MP-3. Digital broadcasting itself, is soon to contaminate the airwaves, killing analog reception forever, or until the universe implodes and expands once again.

A bit too much copy. Really good photo layout. The cited diffeences between the FRM-1 and the FM1000 is more than he cites. The blanking plate covers the space where the crystal controlled front end resides in the FMR-1.
