Fisher MT-6410A TT: Thoughts/opinions?

Someone abandoned a box outside the small recording studio I have in a local church either yesterday or this morning....found within it (among other things) was this old Fisher turntable. Semi-automatic belt drive, straight tonearm with offset cartridge mounting. Dust cover missing, otherwise all there but in rather haggard state. (On the good news front, a new belt for it is only $10 from turntablebasics.com!) I haven't had the bottom off it just yet, so I haven't determined why the platter flops everywhere. (Spindle bearing damage? Or possibly a rotted set of rubber suspensions underneath? I'll suss that out later this afternoon.)

Is this beast a good machine worth restoring or should I do something wild with it like make it into a specialised 78 turntable? T I A!!
