There are Manufacturers' Forums here at AK for Grant Fidelity, Infinity Loudspeakers, Kenwood, Marantz, Linn Audio, McIntosh, Pioneer and Sansui, but not Fisher. Perhaps it is time that a Fisher group is added for the "Fisher Fanatics" as well. Let this thread be your motivation.

While I believe I do have some answers (and perhaps even a lot of answers) for my fellow Fisher fanatics, I have some (many?) questions as well, and hence my personal motivation for this thread.

When messaging me personally, please use the AK e-mail message feature rather than the AK internal messaging system as the AK internal messaging system is rather limited in both in message size and the total number of messages. At times I may not check my messages on a timely or even regular basis. Messaging me by e-mail alleviates any and AK internal message limitations. This way your message won't get a dreaded "message box full" send error.

Due to the highly technical nature of the information I am presenting subsequently herein, spell checkers and grammar checkers choke generating lots of false positive errors. Therefore, each receiver "spec page" (if you will) may have some errors including spelling and/or grammar in addition to whatever possible technical errors.

In any event, let us begin...

It all started about three years ago when my twin brother acquired a Fisher RS-2015 stereo receiver that was blown in one channel for 100 barter bux. We weren't bothered very much by the "blown" problem because for us, "blown" is something we just fix, or better yet, tinker with, re-engineer and make better.

We didn't know the specs or anything about the RS-2015 at the time, so we consulted the Internet. And, the both of us, being very electronically inclined, were very pleased with what we found.

These aforesaid Internet searches also landed several links leading here to AK. This is how I found AK. One of the most common search engine hits Internet wide is generated by the "Amended list of 150+ wpc receivers!" sticky which has been copied by other individuals to many other Internet audio sites as well.

My brother and I have both serviced and repaired many different makes and models of receivers over the years including Akai, Denon, Harman Kardon, JVC, Marantz, NAD, Onkyo, Phillips, Pioneer (yes, including the SX-1980), Sansui, Yamaha as well as the more common Sears LXI, JC Penney MCS, and Realistic types (to say nothing of the 80s "black plague" that persists until now and all the black plague's progenitor(s) and/or spawn the likes of Emerson, KMC, Panasonic, Randix, Sharp, Soundesign, Yorx and all of that mess...)

Ironic that Fisher has "ruled the decades" and has done extremely well during the black plague era (at least it looks to me that way) if you can call it that. (Heretic! He has spoken the forbidden words! Stone him! &c&c) Years ago: "(So, like,) my reference standard speaker to which I compare other speakers is the Vandersteen 2C." Which is true. Not bad for me during my adolescent days being 17 years old at the time in 1984 eh?

"Oh really?" "Yeah, and I kept borrowing a friend's set of Panasonic Thrusters also. I liked the Thrusters as well. (Yes, I have read the Thruster threads here on AK, these threads are hilarious to read.) ("What???!!! He has spoken more of the forbidden words! He must be put to death at once! &c&c) Uh... Where was I? Fishers. Oh yeah...

For some miraculous reason, neither of us, my brother nor I have ever seen or come across a Fisher model 1000 or 2000 series receiver over the decades, until just very recently. As common and popular as the Fisher 1000 and 2000 series are, I just don't know how this happened to us. So, for us "we learned something new."

Over time I conducted further Internet research concerning the repair of the blown RS-2015, looking for the information, the service manual and original replacement parts. I've came across a lot of Fisher stereo information in general and as a result, I've collected a ton of this Fisher information, a lot of which I have saved and some of which I have compiled for use here including pictures of every single Fisher 100 200 1000 and 2000 series receiver I can find. The "stack" of Fisher receiver pictures gets larger every day. The Fisher receiver picture collection is currently 339 pictures totaling 62 megabytes.

Along the way I've also come across some apparently very "rabid" (in a good way of course) Fisher Fanatics over in Germany at a site similar to AK who really love Fishers with a great passion "RS-1080 Uber! &c&c". The site is all German so I can't read much of it but you can really see these people's Fisher excitement very clearly.

At first I only sought to acquire the service manuals for the models RS-1080 and RS-2015. As time went by, and as I've studied all the other Fisher models in the 1000 and 2000 series, I decided to acquire the service manuals for the models RS-1056, RS-1058, RS-2007 and RS-2010. Partially because I've seen a lot of other people here on AK and elsewhere on similar Internet audio sites are looking for these rare and hard to find Fisher service manuals.

Further time went by, and I found additional Fisher service manuals the were "just too cheap to pass up" and so the collection has continued to grow even beyond my original revised expanded collection.

Further time went by, and I continued to notice even more individuals here on AK and other similar audio sites are searching for information on most Fisher RS-1000 and RS-2000 series receivers and yet there is pretty much a "dearth" of good solid information on these Fisher receivers of any kind other than a few Fisher fanatics here on AK such as myself. Yet for some reason, the information has never been fully or even partially published electronically in any form or forumn that I know of. This thread should rectify this problem in full.

I haven't as yet acquired but may yet acquire the Fisher RS-36, RS-90, RS-110, RS-120 and RS-220 service manuals to complete the 1980 - 1981 series product line for sake of completeness and/or demand. The RS-110 and a pair of RS-225s are currently available on that "big auction site" e-B-a-y as I'm writing this as well as several RS-1000 and RS-2000 models from biggest to smallest in both 1000 and 2000 series.

What caused me to take the final plunge and acquire every single service manual with the ultimate goal of digitizing and publishing all for free are the facts that:

1) Fisher service manuals are of the best quality printing, both the quality of paper, and in the image quality. This cannot be said for the service manuals of other manufacturers, particularly service manuals I have seen from Marantz and especially Pioneer; and,
