Fisher slide switches

3/8" lever is too short. They'll barely clear the hole. 1/2" to 5/8" is length IIRC. You may be able to swap out the handle part from your old switch to the new one. What's wrong with the originals? If they feel rough, dis-assemble, clean and lube with some Di-Electric grease on the rails and internal parts. That should smooth them out to the point where they work right.

Mine have the a loose feel rather rough . On 500C its the stereo /mono and if I tap it works . Are the switches held together with rivets ?, I don't recall.

No rivets. Those split pins on the sides are what holds them together. You should be able to tighten them some with either a small screwdriver or similar to wedge the splits apart. Slip joint pliers to press the parts together and then tighten the split pins. I usually just crimp over the pins slightly. And lube them with CRC 1626 electronics lube. That'll take a lot of the roughness out.
