There are a few amps locally for sale but i dont know what the best option is or what is a good price. Which should i pickup ? Or should I wait if the prices are too jacked ?
Threshold s150 class a/b $750
Threshold s150 class a $1200
Forte 1a $900
Or a Yamaha b2 for $950

Threshold made a S/150 that operates in Class A/AB. They never made one that operates in Class A. During that era, the Class A models were the SA-1, SA-2, and SA-3.

The other thing to take into account is that the Threshold and Forte are a bit long in the tooth now and you should factor in the cost of replacing the PS capacitors (at least).

Congrats, Destroyer. I too would have agonized, and probably made the same choice.

Please write us a little review — I'm not the only one who's curious — and envious.

for its age its actually quite clean inside, they light for the meters doesn't work but thats really minor considering the my rack is on the outer edge of the living room. I'm still doing some tube rolling in my pre to find a match for it but would like to get it recapped and serviced I'd hate for it to clock out on me. anyone got any recommendations on who can do these amps?

B-2 means be twice as careful. VFETs and if they get damaged by mucking you just can't order replacements from the local 5-n-dime.

I'm fully aware of that (I browsed many forums before purchasing)which is why I don't want to go foundling it and was asking if anyone knew someone that has the ability to work on these. preferably around the SF area as thats only a couple hr drive from me. but beggers can't be choosers
