The answer may surprise you.

Based on manufacturer's specs, No. 1 is the 2600 at 300x2.

No. 2 is the 2500 at 250x2.

No. 3 is the 2385 at 185x2.

And, No. 4 is ????

Wait trick question...... there is some NON classic Marantz from the 80s that would be next....

"Classic"

2330.... at 130wpc.

But manufacturer rating is relative..... the 4400 has been tested at 203 wpc when rated at 125wpc in 2 channel.... were they consistent in the amount of "under-rating".... I don't know. Back in those days the rating is for 1 hour with a test load and no change in specifications.

Would be very interesting to see a post of Manufacture specs vs Actual.....for the major models.

Would it be my recently acquired TA170AV at 165wpc? Not so "classic", but powerfull.

Try the Marantz SR9000G

Only sold in Europe and Military PX stores in Germany.
Multi volt units.

130 WPC @ 8 Ohms .03% THD
165 WPC @ 4 Ohms
145 WPC @ 8 Ohms DIN
180 WPC @ 4 Ohms DIN

Should be number 4 on List?

Here is the Tech sheet from SM

Boulderbros -- As the owner of an SR9000G I GREATLY appreciate those specs. Where did you get them?

However, the TA170AV puts out an additional 40 wpc into 8 ohms, per Marantz, so, technically, it is the more powerful of the two. Having seen the insides of both, that is obvious.
