I had picked up a beautiful pair of Wharfedale W60s not too long ago, but I soon determined that one tweeter was, indeed, open.
I recapped both with some Dayton 12 uf caps, and started to search for an appropriate replacement tweeter to replace the red-banded '5' tweeter, but soon saw that it would take a while for one to show up.
Then I remembered that I had a JBL LE5-6 midrange that was the same size. The Wharfedale tweeter rolls off at the top almost where the JBL does, and with a little reaming to fit the bolt pattern, it was in.
It works surprisingly well. The JBL is slightly more efficient, which give me more adjustment range with the level control. It may not be perfect, but it'll do until the right part shows up.
