That was it.
Nice words and all but I'd love to hear a writer from that magazine actually comment on Vintage hi fi equipment. After all- if their position is to recommend quality gear, I'd like to know what they have to say in terms of whether the stuff made in the 70's was better built than whats available nowadays. Would a Pioneer SX-780 or a Sansui G-5500 receiver, for example, be a sensible buy if you only had to pay, say, $50, for it?
I was considering writing a Letter to that mag and maybe some others and making a suggestion along the lines that they write an in-depth article on Vintage Vs New Hi Fi gear. Just to see that topic in one issue- I think would be very interesting. I wouldnt mind making xerox copies of various Sansui amps- be it reviews, the svce manual etc, and sending it to them for their evaluation and finding out from them in their 'expert" opinion whats supposedly lacking in the old stuff that would make me want to buy something new. Maybe if enough of us did the same, we'd be able to make them pay more attention to this Subject.
Of course- you can ask questions if you visit their website but you have to pay for the privilege.
