good amplifier for Spendor a6?

My spendor a6 speakers sound lovely and mellow on a Plinius 8200 ( 150 watts). BUT I would like to try an amplifier that would open them up to provide more immediacy (presence) without losing the midrange magic. Any ideas?.
Any thoughts as to whether valves/tubes would work given their limited power( usually below 40 watts)

Thanks audiodon. Which tube amp did you use to drive the A6s?
Did it ever run out of steam on loud crescendos or in trying to control the bass?

Well, as long as your room isn't huge and you're not reproducing rock at concert volume, anything over 20 watts will do.
In smaller rooms, 10 watts is enough.
I use a Fisher 500-C (35/ch) to drive my D7s, which are 90dB efficient.
I'm a powered sub fan, so you might have to consider that or play with placement. The closer to the back wall, the more bass.

You might keep an eye out for a used Croft phono-integrated, that would sound rather nice on the Spendors.

I'm enjoying my new A6Rs with 35 wpc Sony HAP-S1 although a new TA-A1ES should arrive any minute. A 75 wpc McIntosh MA6200 sounded great too

You have very demanding ambitions if your amp doesn't satisfy!
