Good Preamp for a MC352?

Maybe they know something I don't. I'm an analog guy, for the most part.

Just saw Mcintosh C47 youtube video and wow what a preamp. the phono stage acts like MP100. two chassis with analog and digital.
3k used maybe oner my price range.

I asked the same question when I picked up my MC452 Thursday from AC. The C47 was a strong recommendation and definitely the best bang for the buck at well under $3k for a "B1" used unit. The C2500 was definitely attractive, but for much more money. If you like the "new" look, I saw at lease 4 used C50s. IMHO, it is nice that the C47 is still the current offering, I like the C100/C200 being true balanced, but their age is becoming a factor, and you can get a C50/C2500 for the same coin. . While not popular here, I have enjoyed my MX-132 for many years, as MarkD says, it's 2 channel performance is very good. That being said, as I have upgraded my system over the years, I use the surround function much less often. Outstanding 2 channel gear easily carries the day. Give AC a calls, they may surprise you with something close to your price range.

If you're using your MX132 for home theater and multi-ch audio as well, you could easily add a C47 and utilize the Pass Thru feature. This allows you to have your cake and eat it both!

Age really isn't much of a factor for the C100 / C200 . . . yet . . .

So far I've came across a C46 and 47 around the same price, I'm lost on this one.
C2200 on top of my radar but reading about some with issues.

C46 if you want the EQ and don’t need the DAC ...
C47if you want the DAC and don’t need the EQ ...

The problem is I may want the DAC if I get a transport, So bottom line I want the EQ and the DAC!
Which one has the better Phono Section?

I havn't see a C48 for sale for a while. I do see a C2300 for sale but its a little under 4k bit over my price range.

Are you just looking locally? Looks like AC has the C46, C47, C48 & C50 all available, in B1 condition.

After talking with AC they took my offer on the C47, the reviews look great on the phono pre and the having two separate chassis. the only issue is the software only runs on a PC

Software for what?
I am all mac, no problems at all. Unless they have changed something?

For updating, which I think is all over for the C48 now anyway, I run from my Parallels and Windows 10, for those pesky old school things I also have windows XP as well in parallels.

Just reiterating what Kev mentioned above. McIntosh preamp DACs work beautifully on BOTH Mac and PC.

Mcintosh does site JRiver as their choice, but, by no means does that limit you from using only that software.

J-River does a Mac version, which I use, I quite like it, plays anything, easy to use, reliable........good support and stable.

Well, open the box and set it up. low power on the right side. Called Ryan at audio classic's and went thru everything same issues.
He told me to sent it back and supplied the shipping table. I will always buy from there!

Sorry I had two threads going, After doing the research I'm leaning 2200. But I'll keep looking.
I do need a new CD player, by looking at the Macintosh seems way over my price range.
