I just bought this off the bay.SOUND PRACTICES MAGAZINE ARCHIVE CD -- ALL 16 ISSUES PLUS EXTRAS!! . 700+ pages and right off the bat, how to solder in resistors and how not too. This will keep me busy for the rest of my life. If you liked the writing style of Car and Driver in the 70's, Iron horse, "back street choppers" in the 90's. You will like this too.

"Getting the Most out of Vacuum Tubes"

You can download it for free from this site and print it out (PDF), or go on ebay pay pay 5 bucks for it on a CD or 13 dollars for a PDF paper copy. It's an
interesting book and I enjoyed it a lot.

Well, I'm a newbie, but a serious newbie. Here's a quick FAQ / Intro guide -- I just found via Google search.
    http://austinstereo.com/vacuum-tube-audio-faq

What I need to learn is how to maintain a vacuum tube stereo and how to think about energy consumption. Having been a lazy-butt solid state lady for so long, I will have to learn to turn the stereo off -- once I get one, that is. Looking at a Zenith console model this week and I'm rather psyched.
