Trying to figure out how to use Google Photos to host images for other sites. What a PITA to get a URL for the actual image!

    Can you see this image?
    Is it pixelated?

Hmmm, that should be a very high resolution, full size photo. Looks like they shrink it way down with a crappy compressor. Sigh.

while in google photos in browser simple right click "open image in new tab" I believe this is the case in firefox and chrome. The url of the new tab is what you use to embed the photo in your post, it retains the quality of the google photos image

there is an inherent compression to google photos though, you can tell it easily with some killer dslr shots especially low light, regardless the algorithm is excellent

Google like to put themselves between you and the image and make it the way they want it to be.

I’ve discovered that Blogger (also owned by Google) is simple, free, and, with basic tagging, allows for searching of photos. Keeps them at full uploaded Rez. Working out pretty well.
