    hey-Hey!!!,
If I didn't have so many other options lined up I'd build with it. I may still; those tubes are still quite inexpensive, and sockets are also available. Probably lay in a few after Christmas...:)
    cheers,
    Douglas

My new DIY SE Gu50 in triode mode. Driver EF80. Power rectifier Russian 2 x 5Tz3S, bias rectifier Russian 6H6S, bias stab Russian SG-2S. Clear sound, good impresions.

These tubes are more like 6146 and sweep tubes; you will want to carefully manage their g2 voltage.
    cheers,

I built one, (SE) and rebuilt it 5 or 6 times (LOL), using different drivers. Tried 12AX7, 6CG7, Russian 6E5P. Finally I settled for a pentode upfront (Russian 6J52B), and GU50 in triode (380V plate, 100mA plate current, -60V bias). OPTs are 5K. Heyboyer made them for me. I put this amp together in 2014, and it is still one of my favorite amps, gets used quite often... I brought it in a few times to Frankenfest to play on Frank's Altecs, and it was awesome. Another time we played it there on AR25s, and it still held its own...
    Schematics and some pix attached...
