We picked up a group of S&W model 64-5 that were retired from the RCMP when they switched over to 9mm. They're scattered in every room of the house.

Stainless steel 38 service revolvers. 3" barrel (yea, a 3" barrel), ramp/service sights. These were a special run for the RCMP contract.

Simple. Always loaded/ready. No thinking required. Pick-up. Point. Shoot.

Have a few 8 round pump and auto loader 12ga in various closets should things get really hot.

I should say..... DO NOT leave loaded firearms around your house if you have any possibility of children being in your home! There is no possibility of children being in our home.

For us they have to get thru the EWS, if that happens, 19 MOS immediate threat, get to safe 10.5 5.56 with PRO & M951 to clear / secure AO. I have a few shotties but have yet to eguip with a light, never ending projects. At least twice a year I train with the wife for this scenario so it's become memory, cell phone, safe room and E&E, shooting is last resort.

The bummer side is our place is so chill, nothing happens here. We like it like that ;).

    20180328_063158.jpg Hey
Here my version of home defense.
S&W model 36 3 inch barrel 38 spl. I put those ugly ass bianchi grips on it for more comfortable carry. If I remember it's loaded up with some hot ass Corbon rounds.
I originally bought it for my mom. Back then she lived alone out on the farm. She has since passed away. I luckily got it back when split up her estate. Eric

  8. I'm thinking that quite a few individuals cross the street as they approach your house. ;) I'll also bet that you have no issues with stolen package deliveries.

Are they rubber or nylon? I had rubber Pachmayrs on my .357 and they were very comfortable to shoot. However they stuck & snagged my clothes so I changed to Hogue.

My go-to inside is good ol' 12 gauge 7 1/2 dove & quail. Vietnam era military test showed it as effective as 00 buck to ~7M but loses that after shot starts to pattern.

Not a disciplined test but a good read. The .223 is roughly the equivalent of dove & quail through drywall whereas 00 buck keeps on going -

    Hey sm
I really don't know. If I had to guess I'd say plastic. I've never had a problem with them being too grippy.
I'd never seen grips like them. I was working part time at a local shooting range. These were in the clearance box. They are so damn ugly I couldn't resist. And they do serve a purpose.
I always ment to get the hammer bobbed and slick up the action a little.
