Had trouble reaching the the tubes, Solved..

I suppose that'll work! And you still have the original cover for resale purposes.
Makes you wonder if these companies ever consider providing easy access to the tubes.
 
My Maverick looked slick, but was a real PITA to take the cover off - two men, a strong elephant, and chain pull kinda PITA.

I dremeled off the bottom wings, so now it slips right off and is still plenty tight to stay on.

Little touch up with a sharpie and you can't hardly tell it's been hacked.
 
Nice job. The added benefit is the plywood is less resonant than metal. Are you considering drilling multiple little holes in the access panel for heat ventilation?

Yeah, I have a Van Alstein pre amp that has 13 screws in the top cover.
It's my only complaint with it. It's built too well.:dunno: Eric
