Congratulations, Vera Lynn. Pink Floyd made a song about her ("Vera"; The Wall).

Vera Lynn also features in the lyrics of Robin Hitchcock's "The Yip Song," written about the death of his father Raymond, who was a WWII veteran.

    WOW! A centennial! WOW!:yikes:

Picked up an LP of hers a while back with a bit of prodding by a Brit neighbour who's in the 90's and listened to her during the "Blitz" in the 40's. Will have to have him over today and take in her album.

Must of been something to hear her soothing voice coming over the air waves during those hectic days of WWII giving encouragement to those huddled in their homes.
