Harman Kardon hk 3485 no sound

I have a HK-3485 receiver which was working great at my old house. I recently moved into a new place and whenever the receiver was playing loud music, the receiver would turn off and display "safety mode". Recently, the receiver will turn on, but will not play any sound. I had it plugged into a surge protector, but it is possible that the new house has dirty power. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
