head substitution from one reel deck to another

If you know the record head is already aligned correctly: after eyeing the alignment of the replacement PB head (by threading a tape while having the lifters rigged upwards and the upper edge of the tape butted along the border of the left track's pole piece inlay) --- make a test recording of interstation FM static noise (listening through headphones) with the deck's monitor switch on TAPE; then, adjust playback azimuth until you get equidistant treble on both channels (while visually maintaining that the edge of the passing tape rides evenly along the border of the upper track's pole inlay).
