SW Virginia guy here. Thinking of starting to look for some vintage gear such as an amp/receiver and turntable. This looks to be a great group of people to help with this new hobby! Right now I have a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon that I'm pretty happy with, some JBL Studio 570's that I adore, and just powering with a Sony AV receiver at the moment. Doesn't do a bad job really. Gonna be tricky in my part of the country. Very little in our local CL, and not many thrift stores and such around.

I hear ya on the lack of stuff...also being in a rural area, the pickings are scant.

Try the Canuck Audio site for used gear or others like it. Occasionally a deal comes up, but doesn't last long.
