Ok, so forgive my ignorance but I have mostly listened to vinyl and occasionally my iPhone directly into aux inputs of vintage tube amps for years. I recently got a Maverick D2 from a fellow aker and need to find the simplest way to bypass the iPhone internal Dac. I understand that streaming from Apple Music is blasphemy but, that’s what I have easy access to and just prefer that for simplicity for now. Is there a plug, cord, dock etc... that will accomplish this?
    Thanks.

Thanks Louis, actually I have both a iPhone 8 and a iPhone 5 that I can use. I bought a chromecast audio not knowing that I couldn’t stream Apple Music through it.... I’m purchasing a Apple AirPort Express this week and hope that might be my solution but, the camera adapter maybe the simple connector I asked for. Thanks again.

I would still hook up that CCA. You can try the free versions of the different streaming services. Worst case is you get to surf a lot of music you would not hear otherwise for the cost of your time.

Edit: you can run those services via thier apps on your iPhone.

Yea I think I’ll hold on to the cca for now and play around with it a bit.

You can 3.5mm >>> RCA or 3.5mm optical if you do pick up a DAC. I have all the stuff I “want” that I don’t have ripped to my iTunes or on vinyl saved on Tidal and Spotify accounts. It’s a great tool for finding new music!!

Ever thought about implementing a full digital system with a stand alone DAC, a music server and some software to manage it all? Just curious.

If the ritual of spinning LP’s was not my therapist I would be all over it.

I understand. It made my head hurt at first as well. But, with some help here on AK and a local audio buddy, it happened. And I am very, very glad it did.

    Good luck!

@Madman1, I'm also completely new to this, so I'm just writing what I think is the answer.

Your D2 has optical in. The Airport Express has optical out.

You can stream to the AE, it feeds your D2 with relatively clean signal, then the D2 does the magic and feeds your amp.
This bypasses the DAC of your phone and the one in the AE.

That’s exactly the direction I’m headed. Should have both the airport and the cable by Wednesday. I’ll post how it works out. I’m running a pioneer elite dvd with SACD thru it right now and it’s just ok.

That’s good to know, I think my DV-45 sounds a little better as a transport thru my SMSL -M8a.
