Help Intentifying JVC Turntable

You got some nice gear there.
Any labels on the backs of the speaker cabs?

Hey thanks!

The only label is a small "made in Belgium" sticker. No model info at all.

Any idea on the turntable? I have not found that model number anywhere.

Apologies if my 'really' sounded a bit off - I meant to add a smiley to the end lol. By all accounts those speakers should be pretty decent. Good luck with the gear, looks pretty good !

Yep no worries. I've yet to see an image that is identical to these speakers so the hunt continues.

The speakers could well be a home assembly job, like the SEAS mentioned above. They did a cabinet set and a driver / crossover kit. Could be the same here.

Hmm with a Philips badge on the front? The owner bought them new from a Hifi store so they shouldn't be a home job.

If he wasn't the original owner then possibly, but I'd say these have to be factory Philips especially with the made in Belgium sticker on the back.

I'm not saying they are SEAS, I'm saying the could be a Philips kit similar to the SEAS kits from back in the day. To avoid the export / import duties and due to a lack of decent domestically mass produced gear, many stores imported the kits from Europe and assembled them in-house. That was certainly the case here in NZ and I bet it was a similar story over in Oz.

Awesome!

Thanks for the info. I really can't find much about this turntable anywhere! Do you have any manuals for it? I ended up paying $260 AUS for it in the end. It really is in MINT condition.

Any idea on what cartridge is on it? I'm sure it's a JVC that looks like the identifying plate on the end of it has gone missing.

Cheers

Got 74 jvc catalogue
No manual
Very little information
I think the SRP 473e came out first
The the SRP 87 in 74 when Quad was gasping for breath or just starting
I really like it not fussy on cart's and plays CD4 like dream
Running excel/goldring Es 70 Ex4 at the moment plays Pink Floyd Echoes beautifully

Cart looks very
JVC Md2e
Stylus caught my eye once
When chasing a 4md 10x stylus
Look similar
Don't know if there cd4 compatible
Proper headshell
In catalog they come with a Jvc 4md 10x
With stereo stylus

Thanks mate.

So is this cartridge any good? Can it play cd4 records properly? Any other special gear needed to play cd4 stuff such as amplifiers etc?

Are cd4 records such as your pink Floyd album hard to find?

I really appreciate the info.

Cheers :)

Hope that helps
Just learned it takes same belt as an
SRP473e
If you need a new belt

Yes! That's fantastic! Thank you!

I wonder why yours has the Nivico branding on it and mine doesn't?

So I do need a different stylus and demodulator for 4 channel stereo.

Easy or hard to find? Expensive?

Worth the hassle?

Cheers!

The pink floyds not quad just stereo
Amplifier,receiver
Cd-4 demodulator
Turntables a good start
You can pursue quad or just use it as a great
Stereo turntable
Cartridge don't think so ,not 100% sure
Cd-4 can be great, varies like stereo records
Equipment comes up ,can be expensive
Records can be expensive

I think nivico was transitional branding
They settled with Victor in Japan
JVC rest of the world
Yours might have come out later
