HELP! Pioneer PD-M500 stopped working

My Pioneer PD-M500 CD player at the office worked fine yesterday. Was working fine this A.M. until the last CD. Skipped it. Thought it may have been dirty CD. Loaded 6 new clean CDs and put in the cart in. It sounds like it wants to spin up, but does not ... Just runs through each disk as if trying to read??? Can someone point me in the right direction to ck out what may be the problem.

Might have picked up a bit of debris on the pick-up lens (dust, small hair ) Tried cleaning the lens?

Or could be something worse. :worried:

Here is some tips on cd repair. On the pd/m series 6 disk I have the spindle motor is shorted and those white ribbon cables are garbage. http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/cdfaq.htm

Anther common problem I've seen with Pioneer CD changers where you play the disc label side down is that the lens falls off the pickup. It's often possible to fix these by gluing the lens back on. Is anything rattling around in the player?

Pioneer CD players are also prone to early laser failure.

I got a spare Pioneer player at home that takes the 6 CD cart. Will swap out with the office one on Monday and bring it home for a look see....
