help with 5000a retrofit

Using Google is a good way to search AK, but you need to be selective. Enter the following:

"site:AudioKarma.org yoursearchstring"

The built in search here does not always find short strings, or numbers like 7700.

Navigate to the "Introductions" forum and read the sticky labeled "Helpful Threads". Remember that this is an old thread and does not account for the switch to the new S/W a couple of years ago, but it is a good start.

So the light shines bright on my old Gulfport home. Lights on still dark inside my head, don't have a clue as to what to do next. I'm thinking of pulling the board again and looking closely at my soldering. Is it the board or some other gremlin in the unit. What's next?

OK, Dipo here again, I hooked up the 5000a with another night light and light did not come on, however when I hooked up my meter I got the below results. First test light attached, meter attached and set at VAC300 Shows about 36 on the meter, second test, fuse put in, light not attached, meter attached set same as first reading on VAC300 reading is "0". Would someone please splain what I am looking at. I would expect to get a similar reading on both test. Just plain do not know or understand. 5000a was turned on for both test, but have not attached speakers yet. Should I????

Well I think I finally killed my 5000a after trying for 6 months. Appears I fried a capacitor on the right channel while trying to get an amp reading off the fuse holder. Smoke came out of the capacitor, square one, at top right of right driver board. Appears I need two new driver boards. Don't know enough to know enough about what I don't know enough about. Anyway, I ain't given up, no siree, going to keep going until I get it right. Or totally fry the unit to its final resting place the scrap heap. Oh well back to researching, thanks for all the help and support. I shall return.
