Hello,

I've been an audio enthusiast since around age 15, even though I'm only on the
Low end of the hobby, at this point ( and probably always will be). Only piece of new gear I've ever bought was a Technics SLP2 CD player in the end of Summer, 1985-cost me three weeks pay from J&A (I think) Music World via mail order from NYC. Might have been the only kid at my high school with his OWN CD player-this was 1985. IIRC, I paid an extra $100 for the model with the wireless remote.

I love music and for a while, loved audio gear.

Starting to love audio gear again, and trying to get back into things, even though my budget doesn't really allow.

Most of my gear comes from the local flea markets and thrift stores.

Currently using Kenwood integrated amp (KA 6100- $5 from local flea market) and a pair of JBL 2050s ($5 from same flea market), albeit at different visit. Using a panasonic CD/DVD player that might have been another $5 or so. Have some more gear stored in the garage including a HK 730a I bought for $125 from a schoolteacher at my high school in 1983. It was my primary receiver up until a few years ago.

Anyway, look forward to participating here. Thanks for having me.

Went to college at Winthrop. That area has changed A LOT.

Indeed. Been here circa horse pastures and a two-lane road in 1990. Compliments of being a bedroom community to Charlotte and a booming economy...things are off the hook here growth wise. Winthrop is a great school.

My harman kardon TA 230 Stereo Festival receiver - the very first stereo receiver in audio history, built in 1958 - with 20 tubes sounds amazing. I have two of them, although they are extremely rare in Europe. A vintage audio specialist told me that there are hardly more than five in Europe - and I got two of them... :)
