Hot for the Russians: the story of Fx Audio's 6P1+6J1 amp and old russian tubes

Just placed an order for this little guy. what is special about this guy is that it allows tube rolling directly or with some adapters with an unusually wide variety of vintage Russian and other european and american vintage tubes tubes from dirt cheap to kiss-me-on-the-lips-slap-my-ass-and-call-me-judy expensive and obscure. I'm gonna try some and kinda document this odyssey so it may one day show the path to some young-lings.

Just be sure to seat your tubes fully in the sockets when you smoke test yours upon receipt, Judy.

oh when I put it in, you can bet your sweet sockets that it will be all the way in, I dont do that weak "just the tip"

for the signal tubes I will be trying various 6J1 from 60s. 70s and 80s Russian vintage and also the Philips 6HM5s.
for the 6p1s there is also a variety of interesting Russian NOS available as well as some interesting and more obscure ones.
