Hotwire

Got a 91 Dodge Daytona. I cycle the ign key to start, power comes on, nothing heard from the starter though. While turning the key I notice that the entire ignition mech seems to be rotating a little too freely! I suspect the ignition itself is faulty. Anyone know how to "hotwire" this up?

Everything seems normal other than the ignition "barrel" feeling loose. Steering wheel unlocks. I'm thinking it's not making the electrical connection inside.

Talked to a guy at the Chrysler dealership, he says if I can make it in he'll let me look at his service manual. Damn, he's 15 minutes drivin' time from me!

Leaving here shortly, friend of mine's offered me lift to my car and I'm going to try and cross the terminals on the back of the starter while he' in the driver's seat.

sounds like the starter/solinoid is dead.
if you jump bat to the solinoid terminal and nothing then its either a dud starter or bad cable/connection.

Well...

The ignition came out, a 1/4" peice of broken "housing" was removed, ignition reinstalled. Good as new!
