The horns at the bottom are bass ports or super-tweeters? Probably big loud things.

    Thanks,
If they don't work out I'll re-donate them to Habitat for resale. They are a good cause.

If it weren't for the cheap cabinets, chintzy crossovers and lousy drivers, they'd be good speakers.

They don't sound bad for what they are. What does that mean? Not too sure myself. :scratch2: I had a pair a few months ago, decent but there is so much better out there.....

    lol.....

OP....if you have a need or use for party speakers that you don't care if they get blown or beer or puke splattered on them. That's what I would do with them.

Thanks to all who responded, that's why I like this forum. There is always someone who has the experience to help you out. I will probably re-donate to Habitate and keep looking.
Sounds like the moral is Technics hardware may ok but the speakers may not be.
    Thanks

    Did you listen to them?

If they sound good to you, why not keep them? Opinions are like, well, you know the rest of that...

Well, yes I did heat em up today while working on a project in the driveway.
good bass but mids and highs were unremarkable. OK to listen to in driveway especially since I am on 10 acres and don't get neighbor complaints due to high volumes.

But when I went back in the garage and cranked up the SX780 with the Koss 110s and the Tempest 3Es I realized the Technics were........unremarkable.

I have a friend who is looking for something for the garage, I think I will give them to him. I am out of room anyway for anything that is not better than what I have.
