How To Get Fused Knobs Off?

I am in the early stages of a 500C restoration ....

The plastic knobs on two switches (including on/off), are fused onto their stems.
No question the small metal friction plates in the plastic have corroded onto the metal stems.
I do not want to damage the pots by pulling too hard.

Any ideas on how to get them off, witout damaging the pots???

I was wondering if heating them might help ... no way of getting any WD40 in there.

If you have the straw for the WD40/De-Oxit/etc. stick a piece of straight wire in the tube. Bend the end of the tube (with the wire) to a 90* angle while heating it with a hairdryer. Once bent, turn off the drier and let cool. Take out the wire. Now you anc get the lube in a tight spot that's angled.

Take two Tablespoons. On opposite sides place the spoon UNDER the knob. Press down evenly on the spoons. The knob WILL come off. Shouldn't hurt the pot.

BUT --Be sure to put cloth between the spoons and faceplate to avoid marks.
