Take something simple. Make it complicated (or, at least non-intuitive), and put a high price on it. Instant sound improvement.

Or on a positive note , work to get the best system you can afford, find the sound that is right to you, sit back and enjoy the music ;)

Perfect? In what way? I don't believe such a thing exists, at any price.

For those of you who believe in an afterlife, there must be perfect stereos in heaven and stereos with tons of odd order harmonic distortion in hell. :(

I thought the OP was going to give some useful info, clearly they're not and don't have a reference point worth talking about.

Let's give latitude. What's perfect for you may not be perfect for me. If anyone wants to spend on complications, they are free to do so. It is the spurious claims made by fringe product manufacturers and not supported by science that catch my attention.

No such thing and what you like I may not. So the only perfect stereo is to your own ears.

    Complicated?

The best sound in my experience was found in a prominent audio reviewer’s stratospherically priced basic systems using a turntable or sacd player feeding preamp to amps and speakers. Quite basic.

Good idea. If that doesn't convince someone to stop looking for perfection, then nothing would.

Actually, there are a couple of points with that assertion that lack *perfection* in my mind:

    1. Lose the noisy audience watching their smartphones
    2. Let me choose the selections all the time
